Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra
Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) is one of the largest and respected developmental organisations in East India. NBJK was established in 1971 by four engineering graduates to address the issues of poverty, inequality, illiteracy, health problem and discrimination. From its humble beginnings in a small Dalit hamlet in the village of Bahera in Hazaribaug in the state of Jharkhand, the organisation now has a presence in 10 districts of Jharkhand and Bihar. NBJK also works in close partnership with a network of voluntary organisations and small groups and has a presence in 4000 villages in 40 districts of Bihar and Jharkhand respectively. It works in the areas of health, hygiene, environment, water, livelihood, disability and education.
