Tertiary Eye Hospitals & Centres of Excellence

Tertiary Eye Hospitals (TEH) (over 100,000 sq ft) serve a large population of over 5 million. These hospitals provide the entire spectrum of eye health services including diagnostics, treatment, outreach services and serve as training centres for Allied Ophthalmic Personnel.

TEHs also offer specialty services that are not available at Community Eye Hospitals including LASER treatment, eye banks, cornea clinics, paediatric ophthalmology and oculoplasty.

Centres of Excellence are research and innovation hubs which serve a population of up to 50 million. These centres engage in advocacy for local and national government eye care policy, provide advanced training in subspecialties and treat complex eye health conditions.
