In 2015, WEN Giving through Hawaiian supported an initiative aimed at raising funds for research into women’s breast and ovarian cancers. The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers in April 2016 saw hundreds of walkers journey 60km across Perth and raised over $2 million. Hawaiian is the event’s naming rights partner for 2016 through to 2018.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Australia

The Mental Health Observation Unit at Perth’s Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital has six dedicated beds and two chairs in an appropriate space for mental health patients arriving at the Emergency Department. Previously, patients requiring further observation and management prior to admission or referral to community services were housed in the main Emergency area. This new facility offers a significantly-improved environment for patients who would otherwise be further agitated in...

Previously, patients requiring further observation and management prior to admission or referral to community services were housed in the main Emergency area. This new facility offers a significantly-improved environment for patients who would otherwise be further agitated in high-stimulus Emergency Department conditions for extended periods. WEN Giving through Hawaiian contributed towards the construction of the Mental Health Observation Unit.

Youth Focus, Australia

Youth Focus helps young people struggling with mental health problems and suicide; issues which affect hundreds of people, their families and friends. 

Begun in 2002, the relationship between WEN Giving, Hawaiian and Youth Focus is now a well-renowned partnership within the West Australian business community. Support which has been provided to Youth Focus includes helping them buy the land and building for their offices, supporting their annual Ride For Youth 700km cycling...

In 2017, The Hawaiian Ride for Youth celebrated its fifteenth year raising over $2.4 million dollars for Youth Focus.  A record-breaking 173 riders, 35 female riders and 14 CEO Challengers participated in the gruelling 700km week-long journey from rural parts of Western Australia towards Perth, visiting a record number of communities, schools and students along the way.

Kurnia (Kidney) Dialysis, Malaysia

Persatuan Dialisis Kurnia Petaling Jaya (PDK) in the Kayu Ara Business Park has 15 modern haemodialysis machines with a full complement of supporting facilities including a reverse-osmosis water treatment plant and automatic reprocessors. PDK is under the charge of qualified and trained nurses, along with nurse-aides. The Centre serves 70 end-stage kidney failure patients in three-shifts; morning, afternoon and evening. Monthly consultations by a qualified doctor ensures patients are well...

Monthly consultations by a qualified doctor ensures patients are well taken care of. PDK subsidises the cost of dialysis as most of their patients come from poor backgrounds.

However, running a dialysis centre is a costly exercise as there’s a constant need for maintenance and machine upgrades. WEN Giving through Selangor Properties Berhad has contributed to the purchase of two haemodialysis machines and funds the operating cost of the centre. 

Ban Phaeo Hospital Nurse Training Program, Thailand

In 2010, WEN Giving began a two-year sponsorship of a nurse training program at Ban Phaeo Hospital. The funding allowed 20 Cambodian nurses to train at the Ban Phaeo Hospital in general ophthalmology skills.

ARTrinsic Inc Black Swan Prize Competition, Australia

ARTrinsic Inc is a not-for-profit organisation which encourages and promotes the visual arts in Western Australia. It delivers high-quality, innovative artistic events that the greater community can engage in. WEN Giving through Hawaiian supported ARTrinsic's 2015 Black Swan Youth Hospital Competition Award which gave adolescents at Starlight Livewire at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children an opportunity to create portraits, distracting them from their illness and helping to build...

WEN Giving through Hawaiian have contributed to this success since 2011 by staging the Rob Broadfield Weekend for Telethon at Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa in Broome, High Tea fundraisers in shopping centres, shopper donation collections and gift hampers for the Little Telethon Stars.

In 2015, WEN Giving supported the salary of Dorje Thinley, a Health Assistant and graduate of Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School, to travel to the remote Himalayan village of Nar to deliver basic medical treatment for the villagers. This community had previously not had access to medical facilities unless they walked for two days to a clinic in another village. WEN Giving has committed to sponsoring Dorje to run the clinic for three years and also fund the necessary medical...

The Bendat Family Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Subiaco’s St John of God Hospital was established to provide Western Australians with a one-stop facility where cancer sufferers and their families could receive the best-possible diagnosis, medical treatments, integrative services and support in a coordinated and inclusive manner.  WEN Giving through Hawaiian provided much needed funds to assist in the realisation of this worthwhile project.
